3 interior décor trends that will breathe new life into your home this spring!

I have big hopes for spring 2021 when it comes to all things décor. This year more than most feels like the start of a new beginning and a chance to make some bright, bold statements in our home. Whilst 2020 was the year of making our interiors multi-functional and cozy, now it’s time to shake off those cobwebs (literally!) as we start to slowly make our way back out into the world again for what we all hope is the ‘beginning of the end’ of lockdown.

With that in mind, I have 3 mood boards to share with you today which I think will be huge trends for this Spring. Take a look and see which is your fave…

It’s time to make a statement.

Gone are the days of a soft and subtle feature wall in the bedroom or lounge. Well at least in my designs anyway! This spring is the perfect opportunity to inject some fun and whimsy into our homes and one of the easiest ways to do that is with a statement wallpaper. This doesn’t need to be scary though. These gorgeous wallpapers are in a muted colour palette meaning that you get the benefit of a design statement without needing to wear a pair of sunglasses indoors (although I’m all for bold colours in interior design).

Be Bold!

Can you spot a bit of a theme here? I think that life after lockdown will include a huge explosion of colour in our homes as we start to emerge from months of restrictions and being separated from our loved ones. Whether the colour comes through a statement headboard in a guest bedroom, or pops of colour in accessories scattered throughout the home, one thing is for sure – life is going to be fuller again as we start to catch up over garden BBQs with our friends and family. At least I hope so!

But what if you’re not ready for all this colour?

If all of this colour and pattern is not for you, then no need to worry as the trend for calm, earthy tones is going to be here for a long time yet. A deeper appreciation of nature over the past 18 months has led many to want include more organic materials in their home. And I can see why. It’s a beautifully calming, healing way to design your home. (You can read more on this in Michelle Ogundehin’s book ‘Happy Inside‘).
