Farmhouse Utility Room

This beautiful utility room is one of the many rooms that were renovated in the Kent Farmhouse that I worked on with fellow interior designer, Sophia Fish. The utility room needed to work as both storage and as a practical, functional room for the family who lives here. When I first viewed the space, it was of a good size but lacked any cohesion or design style. The room functioned mainly as a storage space and hadn’t been updated for quite some time. After lots of design meetings with the client, I opted for a calm, sophisticated design which met the brief of serving the family for both storage and for utility needs.

We added a calming pop of colour to the back storage cupboards by painting them in Little Greene’s ‘Livid’ and complemented the shade with off grey cabinets throughout the rest of the utility room. Warmth and depth of tone were added throughout via brushed gold handles and natural wooden shelves, all carefully constructed by Reuben Fish, carpenter and owner of Woodstock CJ, in Kent. I added some task lighting via some beautiful wall lights from Jim Lawrence, whilst texture and a complementary pop of colour were added through the bespoke roman blinds.
