I have a simple yet effective DIY to share with you today. It’s a sequin evening clutch bag – perfect for this New Year’s Eve. Here’s how I did it:
First of all I scoured the local charity shops looking for a suitable clutch bag that I could embellish for my DIY. I managed to find this one for a very reasonable £2.00.
Next I gathered all my resources. You will need some black and white sequins, tailor’s chalk so that you can mark out your chevrons and some strong glue. I used Bostik glue. Make sure you use something that dries clear so that you don’t get a coloured residue on your sequins.
I used some sellotape to help me mark out the chevrons so that I knew I was happy with how it looked and then drew around the tape with the tailor’s chalk. I found that the width of the sellotape was ideal for creating the width of the chevron and meant that I was able to keep things fairly even across the bag.
Finally, fix the sequins in place. (Tip: When sticking on the sequins, make sure they overlap a little, that way you don’t get any gaps).
This was a really simple craft to do and didn’t take too long either. Perfect for completing in front of a Christmas film on the TV!
Let me know if you give this a try – I’d love to see your finished projects!
