Hello friends, how are you? It’s been quieter than usual here at Celebrate Creation as I’ve been enjoying a few days off after the Easter weekend with Toby. We’ve been blessed with some amazing Spring weather and so have been out for lots of walks in the sunshine whilst catching up with various family members. I’ve also taken the time to brainstorm some new posts for the next couple of weeks and managed to photograph my styling the seasons post for this month which I’m excited to share with you tomorrow.
For tonight however, I thought I’d catch you up with another ‘Recent Happenings’ post as it’s been a while since I did one. So along with a few pictures I’ve taken on my i-phone recently, here’s what I’ve been reading, visiting, making, seeing and planning.
Reading: I’m about two thirds of the way through The Miniaturist and have loved every second of it so far.
Visiting: Lots of family members across the south of the country! Toby’s father has recently purchased a new home in the New Forest and it’s in an incredibly beautiful location. Can you believe that the image below is of a part of his garden?
Making: I’m feeling mightily impressed with my crafting efforts recently! I made an envelope cushion cover for a cushion that’s been bare for far too long and also repurposed an old sweater into a water bottle cover. I have images to share and a tutorial for the water bottle cover so watch this space…
Seeing: One of the major benefits of living 20 minutes away from the centre of London is that you can pop into town on your day off and try your luck at grabbing a ticket for an afternoon matinee in the west end. I tried that last Wednesday and was fortunate enough to get a seat in the afternoon for Shakespeare in Love. It was great and as I tend to do this on my own, I rarely have trouble getting a last minute ticket. I don’t mind going to the theatre by myself but I know some people really dislike doing things like that on their own. Do you?
Toby and I also walked along the river to Petersham Nurseries on Thursday and spent a lovely hour wandering around and admiring the plants. The whole place smelt amazing due to all the fragrant flowers. It was a bit too girly for Toby but I loved it!
Planning: A house move! We have put our house on the market and are looking to relocate to Kingston upon Thames. All very exciting. I have lots of images of our current home for marketing purposes so will do a home tour before we leave this place.
What have you been up to lately? Any book recommendations as I near the end of The Miniaturist?
Have a good Monday and don’t forget to check back in for my Styling the Seasons post!

I’m reading The Miniaturist too! Going to finish it tonight. Have loved every bit of it and can’t wait to see how it all ends 🙂
I’ve nearly finished also. To be honest it wasn’t at all what I was expecting! I think the author’s writing style is fantastic. We should start an online book club Mary!x
